When I used to go to England I met a lot of older people who were nice, well mannered and willing to talk.... They did seem to be terrified , however. I sat down next to a lady on a train and her look of apprehension was something I didnt remember from my childhood. I have not been there for several years now but I can only imagine it is worse. My infrequent brushes ..on planes and FB, with British people are nearly always confrontational and downright rude. they swear, curse and generally abuse one. I wonder if those English people I met at home are even more cowed by the aggression and the constant threat by the people of the peace loving religion than they were by hooligans? I found the British celebration of 1812 with cakes, flags and sparklers to be in bad taste and said so on the Tea Party page (they didnt condone it and the comments were sad in that Americans felt abandoned and denigrated). I was rudely abused by some troll (I always look at peoples FB home pages to see what kind of people they are ) from.... guess where ! (no prizes for that one). I have blocked family and friends because I get common abuse from their FB friends .. and I really do not need to have any contact with cess pit trash. I can usually give as good as I get.. and more... but I am fed up with the rudeness, vulagrity and anti Americanism that is spewed by some (not all) British.
