When I was in high school I took an environmental studies course in which we read, among other texts, Limits to Growth. ZPG material was already familiar (though not with the critiques--I mean, I was 14 and in Cairo when I was reading ZPG stuff). Years later, people pissed on these analyses because: cybernetic; first-world/imperialist; colonial hogwash; green revolution; etc. But guess what? sometimes that type of modeling actually forecasts accurately.
