When MSSN Lafenwa/Sabo Branch Inaugurated New Excos By Our News Editor Leading Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lafenwa/Sabo Central Branch, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday 16th March, 2014 (15th Jumoda-l-Awwal, 1435 AH), inaugurated its new executive that will administer the activities of the branch for the next couple of years. The newly-appointed executive members were inaugurated at the branchs Annual Conference recently held at Comprehensive High School, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The Chairman, Shura Committee, Ustaz Miftaudeen Rufai announced the names of the new excos comprising nine sisters and nine brothers, just as the inauguration proper followed. The excos include the Amir (President) , Dr. Abdul Hakeem Yusuf, Abdul Lateef Abebefe (ACA), Noibul Amir(Vice-President), Abdul Shakur Abodunrin, General Secretary, Muhammad Bashir Abdul Azeez, Assistant General Secretary, Saheed Bankole, Financial Secretary, Abdul Raheem Awwal, Treasurer, Miftaudeen Raji, Public Relations Officer, Qosim Salaudeen, Asset Maintenance Officer, Abdul Fatah Thalith, Welfare Director and Musa Amusoro, Ex-Official. Others include Aisha Adewole, Amirah (Female Head), Hajarah Adelanwa, N/Amirah (Vice), Hafsah Tiamiyu, Secretary Sister Circle, Raheemah Badru, PRO, Mutiat Alao, Welfare Officer, Monsurah Harun, Umuat Cordinatress and Aminat Somefun, Ex-Officio. In his address, the immediate past Amir, Mallam Musa Amusoro noted that the branch again has demonstrated its belief and commitment in and to accountability as pivot for good governance and administration as he said the branch handing-over conference was a means of accounting for the previous years. He added that the past administrative years were full of aspiration, hopes, challenges hardwork and achievements. Amusoro said, The challenges of meeting up with the demand and scope of the work ahead of us has brought about strategizing and re-organizing in the society which has been yielding positive effects on our set goals of setting high standard. Today, Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Lafenwa/Sabo Central Branch wishes to sincerely appreciate those that have made today conference a reality. We say its only Allah (SWT) who can reward you for making our dream come true. Our appreciation also goes to the patrons of the branch and also well wishers and our esteemed members. He however, commended the outgone executive members of the branch for what he described as their dedication and unflinching support for the society, wishing the new set of executive members smooth and fruitful experience in the administrative sojourn they embarked upon. Speaking on the theme of the conference, Despite the Shakles, Ustaz Abdul Mumeen Muibudeen emphasized that it was important to give adequate account of stewardwardship in every administrative position as he said administrative work is full of many shakles. Ustaz Abdul Mumeen said, Islam and Allah have made it established in the Quran that difficulties and hardship have been made mandatory on the path of mankind to pass through. So, the shakles are natural. Shackles is a necessary facility in our life. If there is no problem there will be no progress. Our theoretical idea is to show people the frontiers of this religion in a clear, complete and evident with no addition to them nor cuts from them and no ambiguity in them, he said. Stressing the significance of dawah, he said the work is global is global and perpetual adding that the constitution is Quran and our leader is Muhammad. He identified stiffness and non-response by callers, low response, blackmail, economic challenges; unemployment/underemployment, SSS/police arrests, psycological war, social media, government policies among others as some of the many shackles on the path of dawah. He however, said the implications of the shackles on the work include among others psycological imbalance likely defective tendencies, sit on the fence, I-dont-care attitude and complacency. On the advantages of the shackles, Ustaz Abdul Mumeen averred that shackles is a sunnah of the dawah as he said it purifies the believers from their inequities and strengthen the ummah. He added the shackles emancipate the ummah from the yoke of slavery and enthrench the spirit of brotherhood to fortify Islamic territory. Giving his inaugural speech, the current Amir, Dr. Yusuf Abdul Hakeem thanked Almighty Allah for giving him the opportunity to serve as the leader of the branch as he craved the prime support of everyone towards achieving progresses in the branch and the country at large. He said, We need your support. We want you to give us your utmost support to discharge our responsibility so that well have the cause to glorify Allah and at the end of the day make a cause that will make us to join the paradise. Also, we impolore everyone of us that the mantle of leadership bethroated on us does not mean that we will do anything before you, we are all respective leaders. The position of the Amir, Naibul Amir or Secretary does mean we are the best but, we have only been appointed to cordinate the affairs of our members, he said. Mallam Yusuf added, But at times, it is always most of you that are always behind the scene doing more, seeing more and I believe this is what we expected from you all. We pray Allah reward everyone of us abundantly and make us dwell in the paradise at the end of this challenges. Amin. Earlier, presenting the administrative report of the last administration, the immediate past General Secretary, Ustaz Yusuf Ilyas recommended that the new excos take the bull by the horns in terms of relating with higher hierachy, other Muslim societies and the members. He urged to devise means of regular and stable income generation for the branch adding that they should keep working for the speed and progress of Islam despite the challenges, even the ones not yet foreseen.
