When i was 20 there was a nightclub in Honolulu called The Wave. It was what happens when the LA post punk, Seattle Grunge and Madchester Shoegazer scenes collide. Painted black on the inside with neon daisies and Andy Warhols Marilyn Monroe. The music live covers of everything from Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cult, and Janes Addiction to REM and Morrisey... and everywhere in between. The smell of clove cigarettes hit you as you walked in the door. The people... dressed in everything from slacks and button down shirts, punk style, and real goths... Joy Division Goths who did not purchase their style at the mall were there. The whole thing was nothing short of alternative heaven. And i have never found another bar that felt quite like home.
