When my daughter was 2 or 3 years old I had people in the mall or grocery store come up to me and ask me where I got her and how much she cost. I noticed when she got to be about 5 people quit asking about her in public. However today was different. We were in line at Vons this morning - Mia is now 10 years old and clearly able to communicate. (she is not special needs or disabled and does not appear to be at all in anyway) The lady behind us was with her kids and she said to me, Is your friend Chinese or Filipino? Mia was standing right there next to me. People are so rude, its like my daughter is a dog or something. What kind of dog is that? I said she is neither and ignored the lady. I shut down when people are like that..she could tell I was not pleased with her question.
