When people say things like, Why would you want to be a music director in a church as your occupation? just remember that for the rest of eternity in Heaven, we wont sing romantic songs, operas, Beethovens 9th, or play Rachmaninoffs 3rd. All well ever sing and play is the praises and adoration of God. God gave us music, not just for our own pleasure, but for His. He deserves for all music to be in His honor. So if those are the songs well perform forever and ever, then why not make them top priority now? (Oh, and by the way, the great J.S. Bach was a church musician and director who never even left Germany, and now hes world famous and regarded highly in sacred and secular music studies world-wide, and he said, The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul. So I think its safe to say that being a church musician is pretty awesome (one of the most honorable and greatest responsibilities as a musician, in my opinion) since you are performing for, um, GOD HIMSELF! YEAH, THATS AWE-STRIKING!
