When trekking, you will no doubt hear the word MAIDAN used to describe an upcoming section of trail. This urdu word has the literal meaning of a "Level Plain", but beware when you hear it used! It can be applied to any slope up to about 15 degrees in angle or a trail that gains as mush as 500m in elevation. Thats the bad news. The good news is it signifies a visible footpath over a generally broad and consistent slope where the walking is relatively easy. With a little experience, you too will learn to recognise sloping alpine grassland as the easiest of all trekking terrain, A MAIDAN....
