When you die your named will be read out on the national radio! Not only is our nature unique, our lifestyle and culture is also different from many others. For thousands of years our closely link to nature has shaped our land and culture, and our dependency on natures resources swimming around our islands plays a big role to every Faroese still today. The Danish photographer Per Folkver has made a great feature story about this part of daily life for many Faroese people that spend weeks to months at a time out on the wild Atlantic Ocean trying to catch some of these surrounding resources we are so dependent on . “They are and will be a kind of modern hunters. They are where the catch is, and thats is the important thing. That there is a price to pay, is included. Not to be at home, and that you can not, or has the powers, or energy, or feel the need to keep up with everything that happens in the world. You hear the Faroese radio news and listens to the reading of who is dead. Because on the Faroe Islands ones name is read out on the radio when you die - Danish feature journalist and photographer Per Folkver on 39 days on a trawler: ´To be on the Ocean simply just makes sense´.
