When you told me to wait - By Tibane How was I to know that it will be longest wait of my life? That you were planning not to return to me That I would be left empty, lost and disorientated When you told me to wait I waited, having faith, trust and hope that you will indeed return I waited coz I knew u would come back to me I had faith, although tiny like a mustard seed I trusted my gut and had strong convicted assurance of your word But my hope slowly withered when it was evident you would not come back to me. When you told me to wait Still I had a grain of hope left in me that I would soon see you That those who laughed scorn and looked down on me will swallow their words and put to shame on your return That they will see I was not alone, useless, empty and abandoned But as time grew old, I saw there was no way you were coming back I shuddered and gave up all hope of ever seeing you again. I wonder if you ever think of me. If you remember me at all– Do I even exist in your sub-conscious? When you told me to wait I waited and wait turned into a vigil When my heart gave in, I knew at that moment that it’s over Waiting for you was like chasing after the wind An impossible task for a human spirit I waited but you did not come to me While I waited, it seems you could not wait to forget me Here I am now, the wait is over You’ve won and I’m the big loser I’m the talk of the town and I hope you are happy wherever you are I wish I can say I miss, but missing you will only make me miss-out on life and the present.
