Which do you think would clean better, water with plenty of bubbles on top or water that has no bubbles? How well either of them cleans depends on a number of factors and exactly what you want to remove but the bubbles have no effect. I know many of you will find this hard to believe but bubbles are created by an additive called Surfactant. Its only purpose is to create bubbles. Soap is made by adding caustic to lard. When I was young, lots of people made their own soap and the first soap available in stores was bars of plain Sunlight Soap. It is still recognised as the mildest soap. Then I remember when every ad break on TV contained something to do with soap or dishwasing liquid. They were outrageous in their claims but they were so successful everybody was convinced you had to have bubbles. Could you imagine using Palmolive Gold in the shower without a lather of soap or a shampoo without buckets of bubbles? How gullible we are? Youre soaking in it Marge. There is a procedure for cleaning that uses increasingly harsh methods and chemicals. Too often we go straight for the harsh stuff, grabbing the Jiff and a scourer when soaking in warm soapy would do the same job without damaging the surface or the environment.
