While I wasnt completely onboard with some of Peter Jacksons choices in narrative focus for LOTR and The Hobbit, its still been an incredible experience being immersed in Middle Earth on screen for 13 years. The scope and scale of bringing Tolkiens world to life was an impressive undertaking and for all its faults, its still been a hell of an achievement, and Im a little sad its over as of Dec. 17th, when we see THE battle royale of the series on screen (for me, The Battle of Five Armies always seemed more immense than the final march on Mordor in LOTR). But hopefully now there will be space to bring other amazing fantasy epics to the big screen (The Inheritance Trilogy and The Fionavar Tapestry would be great places to start...).
