While Joe Hockey is warning all of us to live within our means, tighten the belt, and work until we are 342 years of age, there is one promise that has to be broken to save us from all this doom and gloom. And that is this governments ludicrously over generous paid parental leave. Blind Freddy can see the Australian economy is way too weak to support the 5.5 billion dollar paid parental leave scheme, which needs to be, at the very least reassessed, or probably scrapped altogether. Fair dinkum, this extremely, over the top scheme has the potential to send many, many Australian companies broke, and bring the country financially to it knees. What has happened to the good old Aussie slogan, you breed em, you feed em.
