While there have been serious setbacks in Egypt, the political situation in Tunisia looks more hopeful, with the draft constitution approved last week not only guaranteeing gender equality, freedom of religion, the abolition or torture and the death penalty, and the right to due process, but declaring that health care is a right and protection of the environment is a constitutionally-mandated responsibility.
