Who is End Of Life Support (EOL)? On 16th June 2014 we learnt about the death of Ms Begum who had no family in the UK. According to her neighbours she had had a son but they lost contact years ago. Ms Begum was a loving neighbour especially to the neighbours children. When these children grew up they would visit her & buy her gifts. Ms Begum was fond of them & she would remember their mother who she was close to before she died. Do to ill health Ms Begum was taken into the elderly peoples care. She died in the care home. The care home could not process the funeral expense speedily, also citing that Muslim funeral was expensive. The neighbours children did not want Ms Begum to be buried in the unknown cemetery & wanted her to be buried in Garden of Peace. They decided to rise the funds from their family, friends & the community. Volunteers from End Of Life Support learnt about this appeal and started to raise much the needed much funds. A large number of people prayed at Ms Begums funeral prayers at ELM but a very few people were present at her burial. EOL volunteers & her neighbours children were present. To this day EOL volunteers tries to regularly visit her grave pray for her & do good deeds on her behalf. EOL representative met with Garden of Peace officials to discuss Peters burial arrangements. We were shocked to discover that over 200 unknown Muslims were buried in Garden of Peace alone. The background to these unknown people include; student community, travellers & reverts. Feeling obligated we immediately agreed to setup the unknown death fund & actively seek out vulnerable people known to be dieing. EOL try to dispatch volunteer befriend the sick person in hospitals, hospice & care homes. We want to rise the full funeral costs for 200 known dead people.
