Who is the ruler of this world? Many people believe that the true God is the ruler of this world. But if that were true, would the earth be so filled with suffering? It can not be God, because Deuteronomy 32:4-5 says: The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness who is never unjust; Righteous and upright is he. They are the ones who have acted corruptly. They are not his children, the defect is their own. They are a crooked and twisted generation! Revelation 12:9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. According to the Bible, the world is under the control of someone evil. 1 John 5:19 We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. Revelation 12:12 On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing that he has a short period of time.” How did someone evil gain control over mankind? At the beginning of human history, an angel rebelled against God and urged the first human pair to rebel too. Genesis 3:1-6 The couple chose to obey that rebel angel, Satan, making him their ruler. Deuteronomy 6:6; 30:16-19 Almighty God is the only rightful Ruler, but he wants people to choose his rulership because they love him. Sadly, most of mankind have been misled into making the same bad choice as did the first human pair. Matthew 4:8-9 Again the Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.” John 14:30 I will not speak with you much more, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has no hold on me. Jesus rejected that temptation, but he later described the Devil as “the ruler of the world.” 1 John 3:8 The one who practices sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was made manifest, to break up the works of the Devil. Will God allow Satan to continue his wicked rule? No! God will use Jesus to undo the evil that Satan has done. So Jesus will break up the works of the devil. Romans 16:20 For his part, the God who gives peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. May the undeserved kindness of our Lord Jesus be with you. Jehovah is determined to bring Satan’s control over mankind to an end. He promises to “bring to nothing . . . the Devil” and undo all the damage that Satan has caused. Hebrews 2:14 Therefore, since the “young children” are sharers of blood and flesh, he also similarly shared in the same things, so that through his death he might bring to nothing the one having the means to cause death, that is, the Devil, Empowered by God, Jesus will destroy Satan. God will rule mankind and restore the human race to the life of happiness and peace he originally intended Revelation 21:3-5. The ruler of this world will be cast out.”—John 12:31. 1 John 2:17 Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but the one who does the will of God remains forever. 1 John 2:15-16 Do not love either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because everything in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life—does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. When Jehovah promises to do something, it is as good as done! Isaiah 55:10-11 For just as the rain and the snow pour down from heaven And do not return there until they saturate the earth, making it produce and sprout, Giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So my word that goes out of my mouth will be. It will not return to me without results, But it will certainly accomplish whatever is my delight, And it will have sure success in what I send it to do. The Bible plainly states: “It is impossible for God to lie.”Hebrews 6:18 Psalms 37:10-11 Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. Revelation 21:1-27
