Who remembers when Leesburg got involved with the Crystal River Nuclear power plant? In one of the recent CC meeting there was a short presentation on this and now its legal issues should be resolved next year. Leesburg should be getting a check for around $7M dollars and with total saving of around $10M. Now I dont have all the details but, its public records. Question is what are our leaders going to be doing with this refund? Lets hope they dont follow the path of poor fiscal responsibility that has been shown in the past. Heres a suggestion, take part of it and refund to the residents of Leesburg some of the high cost that were charged in association with this failed adventure. Heres another suggestion, instead of $4M window dressing of street lights and trees, work with the owners on West Main and help them clean up the fronts of their old building ( for example if not tear down at least paint part of the old building across from Pep Boys or help whoever owns the old buildings across from 13th St help put a new awning up and wash the building) if want window dressing then clean the windows not the frame.
