Why? But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning - TopicsExpress

Why? But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 On Thursday, I spent time with a couple who suffered the loss of their new born son. At times like these, we often ask ourselves, why? Why does God do this? Friends, God does not do this. The world in which we live is very different from the perfect world that Adam and Eve lived in. They knew what it was like not to get sick, not to get hurt, not to go hungry and not to have to bury your own children and loved ones. There will be a time like this again with the coming of the new heavens and new earth. Those of us who hold to a heavenly hope know that as members of the church, we look forward to spending eternity in heaven when we die, or when Christ raptures His church. In the meantime, we have to live in a world where the devil runs rampant, nature groans under the stress of a curse and things do go wrong. It is not easy to say goodbye to loved ones when they die, but we appreciate that we who have faith in Jesus Christ as our Saviour, will be reunited with our loved ones in heaven one day – because Christ paid our debt through His death on the cross. Losing those we love is very difficult. We feel the pain of loss because we have loved them. Just as Christ wept for Lazarus, it is natural to mourn the passing of a loved one. But we must remember that to the believer, death is not the end, it is only the beginning..... Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus. Please help me to remember that we have something wonderful to look forward to. Death is the beginning of a wonderful eternity spent with You. I miss my loved one, but know that because of the faith we have in You, we will be reunited one day. Amen
