Why I Dont Agree that Calling Out Sociopathy is Racist or - TopicsExpress

Why I Dont Agree that Calling Out Sociopathy is Racist or Ableist i dont agree with the article, actually. sociopathy is actually ENabled, not dis-abled in our society, to the extent that someone who acts like a sociopath is considered normal. (consider how people side with the calm, charming abuser and not the hysterical abuse victim, or how a calm person is more credible, even when accused of a horrible crime that could result in loss of freedom or life? thats sociopathic, its not the way most people act. what makes something neuro-typical isnt necessarily what is healthy or even common, its what is supreme, and sociopathy is supreme. we see it in board rooms, we see it in political organizations, we see it in the quid pro quo and often in activist circles. we see it in the empowering and enabling of bullies, we see it in just get along with difficult people we see it in the pressure to defer to power and prestige we see it in respectability. so no, its not racist and not ableist. its calling out the normative an saying-- no, its not cool, its not okay and we need a protocol for bringing this behavior into a social environment that is healthy and supports everyone. if youve ever been targeted by a sociopath especially those in power, with no concern for others or their well being, no empathy, then maybe this is theoretical. but if youve been up against the culture of sociopathy that allows that behavior to hide behind dis-ability rights while continuing to marginalized dis-abled neo-diverse conditions, then its not only accurate, but necessary language. in fact, when sociopaths take advantage of therapy, they dont become less socially abusive, they actually get better at it. we do need to disempower sociopaths and develop protocols (im thinking clear rules and guidelines for social interactions), so that they can interact with the rest of the population without stigmatizing us and doing great harm. im also really concerned with a trend where socio-paths claim to be autistic and blame autism for their total lack of empathy and concern for each other. autistic folk may not get social cues or understand socially ascribed behavior, but they dont lack empathy, in fact they often have more empathy than others but the writer of this article is confusing the label of sociopath with how pwds with dis-abling (that is, externally marginalizing) conditions are mis labeled and abused. thats a whole different issue that needs to be addressed. for example, sociopaths who dont actually hurt people, arent going to be labeled sociopaths. the label comes with the anti-social behavior that is so hurtful and so destructive.
