Why democratization in China does not go smooth as some Modernist - TopicsExpress

Why democratization in China does not go smooth as some Modernist expect, even China seems like so interdependent with other countries? Robinson (1998) points out the fact that the meaning of independence in China refers to markets, and so there are no much developments except for economic related areas. Thus, China goes so well under the context of international economic independence or, globalization, yet it is still so independent. In addition, based on the huge diversity of it, China can try to copy the interdependence model to itself, orienting internal independence to itself. This paper is quite interesting that, it shows that culture is the most independent area which is not influenced by external factors, and Robinson argues the reasons are from its government. But the only influnencial roles to Chinese are Hong Kong and Taiwan. If we further think about this, so tricky and interesting.
