Why do I want to run? #1 First and foremost, I wish to serve my community. There is a long tradition of service in my family. I have four grandfathers who were all in uniform during World War II. My mother, father and step-mother all served in the military as well. My mother and step-father both currently work for the Forest Service. My father just retired from his second career as a cop with the Pittsburgh PD and my step-mother is a nurse. All of these examples in my life have been internalized into a world-view where I do not view employment as a means to acquire wealth but as a way to be compensated while I focus my efforts on serving others. This is why I teach, why I volunteer my time and its why I am seeking this office. I have lived in Rose Park for more than 20 years and I have a strong desire to give back to my community. I am a dyed in the wool progressive advocate. I have a passion for policy development and believe I have the knowledge and experience to be an effective representative for my neighborhood. I am well informed on the issues and will be a strong voice for our neighborhood in the Legislature.
