Why do people think frightened animals are funny? Ive come up with the following list: 1. They dont understand what they are looking at. Frightened animals sometimes do things that seem funny or cute, if you dont know what you are looking at. Unusual vocalisations, hair standing on end (which can make animals look cute and fluffy) and other displacement behaviours like attacking parts of their own bodies can look funny. It really isnt. 2. People are mentally unwell, and get a kick out of seeing others suffer. There is a clear link between animal cruelty and crimes against humans. Some people have been so abused themselves, the only way to feel empowered is to make others feel bad, whatever their species. Most will belong to group 1. There is no reason to remain in that group. Educate yourself on the behaviours in your pets that indicate stress and fear, and tell others too!
