Will Cyclops & Jean Grey Be REBORN For X-Men: Apocalypse? Kinberg - TopicsExpress

Will Cyclops & Jean Grey Be REBORN For X-Men: Apocalypse? Kinberg Speaks! I personally believe that fans like myself would have been quicker to forgive X-Men: The Last Stand if it had not utterly failed the character of Cyclops. Completely overlooked in X2, we were fully prepared to watch James Marsden return to form as Cyclops in X3, but we were sorely disappointed to watch him be killed off barely 15 minutes in. In an attempt to sell the idea that Jean Grey/Phoenix was a ruthless monster, the writers shoehorned the death of Scott Summers and without even showing us how it happened! They just shot a quick glance at his floating sunglasses and called it. X3 had plenty of other problems as a film, certainly, but said death was an issue audiences and critics were quite vocal about. Fortunately, the new flag for X-Men has developed a continuity that leaves room for the rebirth of Cyclops, Jean Grey and other deceased favorites. And by rebirth, we also mean a possible recasting. In an interview with SciFi Now, Bryan Singer (writer/director of X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Simon Kinberg (producer/screenwriter) revealed some directions theyll be taking with the story for future X-Men films. My next goal is how did the X-Men come together? That story hasnt been told yet, so [Days of Future Past] is the inbetweenquel. Its in between the birth of that relationship with Charles and Erik and the formation of the X-Men. - Bryan Singer was also asked whether or not this direction meant that he can recast Cyclops, Jean and Storm. He quickly confirmed this. Simon Kinberg added: In a way, it feels like from this point forward we can do whatever we want, but well be moving forward with some of the actors from the First Class/Days of Future Past cast, so theres stuff weve done in these last couple of movies that well definitely continue doing for them, at least in Apocalypse, if not more movies going forward. I havent seen Days of Future Past yet (it will be out on May 23rd), but we can deduce that the timeline that precedes the original X-Men film in 2000 will be distorted. This means that Wolverine will be able to join the X-Men earlier, and the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine arent set in stone. Charles Xavier recruits Cyclops and other future X-Men toward the end of that film, but in the Days of Future Past timeline, he could have recruited Scott Summers and Jubilee in the 80s, for all we know. There you have it. Thanks to time travel, well-done prequels and Jennifer Lawrence, the X-Men franchise is finally back on track. - Admin Philip Source: moviepilot
