Will you be watching the Presidents State of the Union Address? I - TopicsExpress

Will you be watching the Presidents State of the Union Address? I certainly hope so. All week we have been asking people from all over the country what they want to hear. We want to hear from you. What should the President focus on? What are the pressing issues? What are the issues most affecting your family? Are you a part of a working family barely making a living wage? Do your children receive the proper education or are the classrooms too crowded? Do you have affordable childcare or proper childcare? Are you unemployed? Have gym, art, music or sports programs been eliminated from your schools? Has the school in your neighborhood been closed? Were you or a family member a victim of gun violence? Has your loved one been in pretrial detention? Have you been forced to close your business? Have you served your time but cannot find a job? Do you have access to mental health services? Have you been forced to move due to home foreclosure? Has the grocery store closed in your community? Have your unemployment benefits run their course? Has your unemployment extension been cut? Do you have to take three buses to get to work? Do you not have enough to feed your family because your SNAP benefits have been cut? Have you been forced to decide between eating and paying a bill? Is your healthcare affordable? Do you have access to proper medical care? Has the hospital in your neighborhood been forced to close? Is the trauma unit in your area been forced to shut down? Has the library closed its doors? Listen again to what has been deemed the most memorable State of the Union Address. Do you agree? Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. eloquently and painstakingly spoke ofthe Dream and the Broken Promise while President Johnson answered the through budgets and legislation. I believe Lyndon Baines Johnson tried to get it right. Heres his war on poverty speech. It has been described as the second most memorable State of the Union Address. We must revive the war on poverty and not on the poor. Friends, please post your thoughts before, during and after the speech. Let me know how tonights speech compares. After 50 years, have we addressed income inequality and the wealth gap? Have we considered the working poor? Watch tonight at 9pm EST. Watch as a family. Watch in a group. Take Notes. Keep Hope Alive! bit.ly/1gnGxEo
