William Shakespeare wrote, Whats in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. I think Shakespeare got it half right. A rose would definitely smell the same regardless of what we call it; however, I happen to believe that there is great significance to a name, especially when the name refers to our One and Only God and Savior. Throughout scripture, we find many names and titles which refer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Each appellation is precious and holy to those who are His own and reveal to us something about His character and Holy nature. As we approach the day on which we celebrate His birth, I would invite you to reflect upon the many precious names that we are given in scripture for Our Lord and Savior and kindly share your thoughts and perhaps one of His many names with the group. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
