Winter Storm 3/13-3/14 Here we go a typical March event, heavy wet snow maybe some rain then snow again. Funny thing this time of year we can get blue snow. My laymen’s description is that red, orange, green, violet and other wavelengths are absorbed by the snow and what is left visible to the eye are the blue wavelengths. They crews are tired of the long hard winter, as well as most of you I am sure; however this blue snow makes us optimistic that spring is around the corner. The sun is higher, days are longer and eventually temperatures will rise. Please bear with this coming winter event as it will be messy, slippery and heavy for removal. The reminder I would like to put out is that it takes our street plow operators approximately 7 – 8 hours to plow their route once and our sidewalk team using snow blowers is approximately 12-14 hours one time around. The way the storm is currently shaping up is that street plows will plow their routes a few times, so if you do not see them in your neighborhood and snow is accumulating it is because they are working their way out there. Please be safe.
