With gratitude to Hashem, to the 500+ donors who contributed generously, and to the devoted lay leadership of Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles and the West Coast Torah Retreat and Camp Center, I have the honor to announce the establishment of the David Oved Retreat Center. Dedicated by Jaime and Marilyn Sohacheski in memory of their parents, David & Rachel Sohacheski and Leo & Florence Presser, the David Oved Retreat Center is located on 80 beautiful acres in the picturesque San Bernadino mountains. It will serve as the new home of Moshava Malibu and will be available year-round to the broader community as a kosher retreat center with a wide variety of program options. The David Oved Retreat Center could not have been realized without the participation and enthusiasm of the entire greater Los Angeles Jewish Community. For the people deeply involved over the past six months, we could not have succeeded in this without knowing, feeling, and appreciating the tremendous support. The rallying of the entire community inspired us to rededicate ourselves and make this a reality. Our multi-phase plan to improve the property will begin immediately, and we will update you on our progress. While we have solidified the funding to purchase the property, we are still short of our ultimate fundraising goal to implement all our planned improvements and welcome your help. To learn more please be in touch, and to make a donation please visit bneiakivala.org/support-us. If you have questions regarding the David Oved Retreat Center, please contact the Executive Director of Bnei Akiva of Los Angeles, Rabbi Menachem Hecht, PhD at [email protected]. With prayers that this be a year of shalom for Am Yisrael, I wish you a shana tova and mazal tov on this wonderful acquisition for our community.
