With respect to those who died in the 9/11 attacks, and with - TopicsExpress

With respect to those who died in the 9/11 attacks, and with sympathy for their loved ones, I call on people to remember 9/11 not with sadness, but with anger. Anger for civil liberties taken away. Anger for the trillions—yes, trillions—of dollars spent on profiteering, and misbegotten policies, all rationalized by 9/11. Anger for the thousands of American lives lost in the pursuit of that profiteering and misbegotten policies. Anger for the hundreds of thousands of non-American lives lost in pursuit of the same aims. Anger for using the memory of the 9/11 dead to manipulate our emotions, to distract us from what America has become—what we have fallen to—since 9/11. Anger in the knowledge that in the thirteen years since 9/11, the profiteering and misbegotten policies continue, despite promises of change, and despite the obvious harm they have done to the nation. Anger in the knowledge that because of the response to 9/11—the profiteering, the trillions lost, the policies—the attacks were far more successful than their perpetrators could imagined, let alone hope for. Anger because ultimately, those who died on 9/11, and after, honored dead though they may be, most assuredly died in vain. So observe today with sympathy or sorrow for those who have died, but in anger for what has been done, and what continues to be done, in our name and in the name of those who died.
