Without the cross [of Jesus,] Christianity cannot face [suffering - TopicsExpress

Without the cross [of Jesus,] Christianity cannot face [suffering and] death and therefore can only be in the business of delusional, sentimental Hallmark positivity. Christianity, for Paul, is at its very core about a God who enters death. In a world that knows death, hyper positivity has no correlation with reality; [such a] church is meaningless because it cannot face reality. It cannot face death. [But] as we see in Paul, the church should be the community that proclaims to the world that God knows death by loving the world - by entering the worlds many deaths through the cross of [Jesus] Christ. - Andrew Root amazon/Promise-Despair-Church-Living-Theology-ebook/dp/B004EEOV8U/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1415282160&sr=8-6&keywords=andrew+root
