Witness appeal for dangerous driver in Pakenham Monday, 26 August 2013 14:20 Cardinia Highway Patrol is appealing for witnesses following a pursuit in Officer and Pakenham on Saturday evening. Officers detected the blue coloured Hyundai Excel sedan travelling 94km/h in an 80km zone east bound on the Princes Highway, just after 6pm. The car failed to pull over accelerating away from police, mounting the median strip to avoid stationary cars, to cross over Cardinia Road against a red light. Police were in pursuit of the car as it travelled east along the Princes Highway, turning right into Mcgregor Road, running another red light. The car continued into Flower Street where boom gates were down so continued through the CBD of Pakenham past Safeway onto Main Street. The driver then sped along Henry Street making his way to the Princes Highway at James Street where he travelled east bound on the wrong side of the road travelling head on towards west bound traffic. Police terminated the pursuit having fears for the safety of the community. The vehicle is described as having a distinctive white panel on the left side of the car It is believed the driver was a man and that a woman was also in the car. Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the Hyundai in Officer and Pakenham to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or log onto crimestoppers.au.
