Woah, our recent post about M80 and M68 brought forth a level of attention and comments weve never experienced before. They included heated debates, which we encourage, and some serious mud slinging, which we do not. Please, please be polite as you share your views with others. We realize hunting mountain lions is controversial and something that brings forth emotional responses--as it should. But remember, regardless of your perspective, the way to influence mountain lion hunting is through addressing your state wildlife agencies, not through attacking those who currently partake in legal recreation (or vice versa, the best strategy for maintaining mountain lion hunting is unlikely through attacking anti-hunters). Life for mountain lions in our study area is HARD. They persevere in the face of numerous challenges. Human hunting is just one of them. The weather is another. In the last few weeks, the weather turned suddenly and viciously. We had a huge snowstorm to kick off the season, a short several days of brutal cold, and then a series of snowstorms, warm spells making the snow heavy and wet, and freezes, crusting the surface... three of F61s four kittens succumbed to exposure. She only has one left, seen in the video below at his first kill. https://youtube/watch?v=maelHbZCSFE&feature=youtu.be
