Wojciech Kilar, a Polish pianist and composer of classical music and scores for more than 130 feature films, died Sunday, at 81. His music graces the films of Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Krzysztof Zanussi, Roman Polanski, Francis Ford Coppola, Jane Campion, James Gray, and many others. In 2003, he won Oscar for his work on The Pianist. The Polish State Cinema Committee honored Kilar with a lifetime achievement award in 1991, whereas Zanussi made a biographical film about the composer.
