Work on Western Bypass begins; To ease traffic jam at Kasoa As part of NDC 2012 manifesto to improve accessibility major centres of population, production and tourism, p53 Construction works on the 24-kilometre (km) Western Bypass, which aim at easing the worsening gridlock at Kasoa, have commenced. When completed, the bypass will offer motorists an alternative route to the Winneba road through Old Barrier, Aplaku, Oshie, Bortianor, Kokrobite, Tuba and Nyanyano. Messrs Joshob Construction Company Limited is executing the GH¢30-million project scheduled to be completed at the end of 2016. The Department of Urban Roads (DUR) is providing supervision for the project. The first section, 5.7 km, begins from the Old Barrier to Kokrobite, the second, 6.97 km, continues from Kokrobite to Nyanyano and the third, 7 km, stretches from Nyanyano, to the Winneba road at Sapato Junction. The fourth section, which is 4.6 km, begins from the tollbooth to the Tuba taxi rank. Under the project, a 20-metre bridge spanning the Okrudu River at Nyanyano will also be constructed to connect that part of the Central Region to the Greater Accra Region
