Working as the volunteer coordinator for the Next Generation Jazz Festival brought so many memories of my son and the awesome jazz musicians (and his friends) from Aptos High School so many years ago. This weekend, I heard the kids from all over the U.S. and the world and could barely hold back the tears. The kids act like typical teenagers, some gangly, some awkward, teasing each other, slapping their buddies, laughing…and then they get on the stage and magic happens.
