World Hindi Theatre day... On this day of 3rd April,1870, Bhartendu Harishchandra with his friends had played a hindi play JANKI MANGAL written by Pandit Shitla Prasad Tripathi, in Banaras. That play was regarded as d first modern Hindi play. After that Bhartendu had formed a group Banaras Theatre and played many plays. There is a dispute amongst d theatre activists on it. I hope theatre activist as well as historians will sit around and fix it up so that this world Hindi Theatre day should be celebrated with much cohasive manner world over.
