Wow! This birthday has me feeling super loved and very reflective today. The last 7 years of my life have helped me evolve so much. I moved back to Toronto when I was 20, trying to find myself and my career path, still unsure about who I was and where I was going. Theres been a lot of hurt, heartbreak, and disappointment this last 7 years, but the leaps and bounds Ive overcome to get where Im at now have made me into someone I can look in the mirror everyday and call a great man. I really couldnt have gotten to this point without some of you guys! Jordaan, thank you for being around when I was trying to come out and letting me into your amazing circle. It really helped me a lot. Portals thank you guys for believing in me as a writer. Coming off a 2 year run as Assistant Editor for The Spill and then having a successful run with my own music blogs Dirtbag Journalism and Diamond Atlas, I needed a change, I needed a community. Thank you guys for giving me that. Steve Rock, thank you for my first dj gig. One good R.Kelly themed night at 751 with Brendan Arnott has turned into something amazing over the last 5 years. Im getting some cute gigs/money now. Its fun/super awesome that people like me as a dj. Ok, this is turning into an Oscar speech now. Sorry. Im still feeling them dranks from last night. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Words cant describe how much I love some of yall. I wanna thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being good friends, internet friends, lovers, business partners, ect. Whatever part you play in this thing is crucial, so thank you. 27 is gonna be crazy! Im always working on something, so expect more from me. Lots more. Also, no I will not have a belated birthday drink with you. I feel like hell today. Gimme a week ;)
