Wow, this video has really got me thinking! Does the Western and modern world sanction individuality to the degree in which it actually creates a paradox of loneliness? Are we seeking individuality and personal success at the expense of real human connection, a need we are hard wired to have met? I kinda think we are. Perhaps not all of us but an awful lot of us. Hey, I advocate uniqueness and am proud of it. I believe though that uniqueness alone is not enough. Being unique AND being vulnerable creates connection. Vulnerability is the price of admission to real human connection. I believe that today many people are in desperate need of real conversation, of real connection. We are just so damn wrapped up with screwing it up, failing at, well, everything. Failing at fitting in. And its not our fault. I believe that change begins with ourselves. We need to get real with ourselves, embrace our vulnerability, embrace our imperfect selves, embrace the need to reach out to every other imperfect person we love and share who we really are.
