Xbox One vs Playstation 4 The first day of E3 has passed and we - TopicsExpress

Xbox One vs Playstation 4 The first day of E3 has passed and we know a lot more than we did about the next generation of games consoles. Let’s try to sum up: Xbox One image * $499 / £429 * Comes with Kinect Motion Sensor. * Exclusive Games: Killer Instinct, Ryse Son of Rome, Forza 5, Quantum Break, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall * HDMI pass-through. * Games locked to console requiring internet connection every 24 hours. * Preowned games only available from MS approved retailers (likely to cost more). * Games can only be given once to Xbox Live Friends of more than 30 days. * Released November 2013 Playstation 4 image * $399 / £349 * Not likely to come with motion sensor. * Exclusive games: The Order, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3 * No HDMI pass-through. * No restriction on game trading (although some games may still have online passes). * No requirement of internet connection. * Easier for independent developers to write games for. * Released Winter 2013 It’s a quick summary and I might have missed some key factors, but this is what’s standing out to me. Information on the web suggests that the PS4 has a slight power advantage and also that the XB1 may require more resources for it’s background process than the PS4 will. This is something which is only likely to effect exclusive game titles and will probably not be seen for years (when the consoles are being pushed to their maximum potential), if at all. The Kinect Motion Sensor does appear to be extremely powerful. The PS4 Eye might not live up to the Kinect’s abilities, but it’ll be a question of who cares. I don’t think I will. The big thing for me, as you’ll know if you’ve read any of my other posts around this subject, is that Sony are not planning on cashing in on the used games market. You can still grab a bargain from a mate, ebay, the car boot sale, or the local independent retailer. This will win over fans right away after they’ve been frustrated by Microsoft’s apparent greed and ignorance to it’s followers. It’ll also win over budget gamers in the future when used XB1 games are about 33% (speculation) more expensive than PS4 games and are only available from certain places. There’s lots of talk online of former Xbox gamers considering the switch to the way of Sony, but I haven’t seen a single PS4 gamer state that the intend to turn to the side of Microsoft. It could just be coincidence, I’m sure there are some out there, but I think there is some significance here. The wiser of us will wait until prices reduce further after Christmas and see which console has the best reviews, games and online performance before buying one. Right now though, it looks good for Sony from where I’m standing.
