YERO CALLS FOR CALM, ORDERS PROBE Category: News Published on Monday, 03 February 2014 05:00 Written by Misbahu Bashir, Kaduna & Musa Abdullahi Krishi Hits: 36 Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State yesterday appealed to followers of Sheikh Muhammad Auwal Adam Albani who was killed by gunmen Saturday night to stay calm as security forces have been directed to fish out the killers. The governor’s media aide, Ahmed Maiyaki, said Yero called on followers of the late scholar to remain calm and law abiding as government is committed to bringing the perpetrators of the killing to justice. He said the governor expressed shock and deep sadness over the killing of the Islamic scholar and some members of his family, describing it as satanic and wicked. “The killing of Sheikh Albani is an indication that despite the improvement in security of lives and property in the state, more still needs to be done to rid our state of evil doers who are bent on creating tension in our communities. Government has already ordered investigation into the killing and assured the people that no stone will be left unturned in unravelling those behind the dastardly act”, the governor said. Yero said the late Albani was a preacher who always stood on the part of truth in accordance with the teaching of the holy Qur’arn and the Sunnah of the holy Prophet (PBUH). He was known for imparting education on the younger generation, a practice which he upheld until he met his untimely death in the hands of evil men who take pleasure in killing innocent people. The governor condoled with the immediate family of the late scholar saying, “At this difficult and sad time, our hearts and prayers are with the family of the late Albani. We urge members of his family to take solace as Muslims in the belief that we are all from Allah and to Him, we must all return.” Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, yesterday described as barbaric, the killing of Sheik Muhammad Auwal Albani. The speaker in a statement by his media aide, Imam Imam, said the news came to him as a shock, which he condemned in its entirety. Tambuwal described the deceased as a fearless scholar who went about his activities without fear or favour. He urged security agencies to fish out those behind the act and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the family the strength to bear the loss.
