Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams Back In Action This Weekend With AMA Pro Racing At Road America Cypress, CA - May 29, 2014 – Fresh off their triumphant weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT, where they swept the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha with rider, team, and manufacturer championships in both the Pro Sportbike and Pro Superbike classes (all told, a total of six championships were won), the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams bring their huge momentum into Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, for this weekend’s Subway SuperBike Doubleheader at Road America. Historically, Yamaha has had a lot of success on Road America’s 4.05-mile, 14-turn natural road course, and several team members (and their spouses) were born and raised in America’s Dairyland state. So, to say the team is excited about this weekend and round two of the AMA Pro Road Racing season is an understatement. Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha: Hayes & Beaubier Most people know Josh Hayes by the nickname, the “Mississippi Madman,” but with the success Josh has had at Road America, maybe he should be nicknamed the “Wisconsin Winner.” Fact is, the three-time AMA Pro SuperBike Champion and newly crowned Superbike Shootout Champion has won a total of six AMA Pro SuperBike races at Road America. Those victories include a Race 1 win in 2010, a Race 2 victory in 2011, and in 2012 and 2013, Josh did the double for two years in a row, winning both SuperBike races each year. He also holds the track record in SuperBike, with a blistering lap time of 2:11.333 set in 2012. This year at Road America, Josh will not just be riding his formidable #4 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R1 SuperBike, but he’ll also be surfing atop the prodigious crest of a three-year, five-race Road America winning streak. His teammate Cameron Beaubier has also had a lot of success at Road America, and he’s acclimated quickly to his #2 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha R1 SuperBike in this, his rookie season. Last year’s AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Champion earned the pole at Road America in 2013 and came away with a victory and a second-place finish in Wisconsin. Cameron is fresh off a second-place result in the Superbike Shootout where he notched a dominant win in the Arai Pacific Nationals at northern California’s Sonoma Raceway. Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha: Gerloff & Beach Garrett Gerloff, rider of the #8 Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6, had a phenomenal Superbike Shootout where he won at Sonoma Raceway and Miller Motorsports Park to take the overall championship in the Pro Sportbike class. Garrett will be looking to continue his success as the Daytona SportBike Championship gets back underway this weekend at Road America. Garrett’s teammate JD Beach also made great use of the Superbike Shootout. New to the Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team, JD has had continually improving results this season, which culminated with a second-place finish this past weekend at the Arai Mountain Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park. The excellent result put JD on the podium in the Superbike Shootout’s Pro Sportbike Championship final standings. He’ll be looking to continue improving when he gets back in the saddle of his #6 Yamaha R6 at Road America this weekend. Meet Josh, Cameron, Garrett, and JD At Don And Roy’s Motorsports Come to Don and Roy’s Motorsports at 17740 West Bluemound Road, in Brookfield, WI, this Thursday. Beginning at 6:30 PM, the four Yamaha riders will be on hand to sign posters and memorabilia, greet fans, and share a few other surprises. Don’t miss it!
