Yasmin is fifteen*. She lives with her mother, father and brothers and sister. She is generally a lively girl, who has a lot of friends. This morning at school Yasmin was quiet and confided to a teacher that she’d overheard her parents arranging a marriage for her overseas. Her parents have reacted angrily to police and social services becoming involved, but have agreed to Yasmin being looked after by foster carers while the situation is investigated.
