Yeah, Ill say it. Protesters blocking freeways are selfish, shortsighted jackasses. Protest on the overpass. Protest at the on and off ramps. Protest on every street corner in town. Protest in every public square and park. You have every right to lawfully assemble and share your opinions with the world. But you have no right to impede others from their own lawful passage. You have no right to inhibit others from moving about as they choose. You have no right to prevent others from lawfully assembling where they want to... namely, farther along the freeway at their jobs, their schools, and their other personal destinations. March. Sing. Wave signs and chant slogans. Protest is as American as apple pie and just as awesome. But do not do so in a manner that tells your fellow citizens, screw you and what you want, Im more important. Because that doesnt make you a protester. It makes you a criminal. And an asshole. P.S. If the point of protesting is to increase awareness and solidarity with your cause, making people prisoners in their own vehicles is a stupid way to do it. You gain nothing and lose the support of the very people you need to persuade.
