Yesterday, I organized an interactive session with the theme, “Democracy and Good Governance: The Role of Citizens. Let me use this opportunity to thank my friends that attended and those who for one reason or the other did not attend. Thank you. From one speaker to the other, we agreed on the following: *That democracy is about people. *That The Establishment has shut out the Nigerian people. *That Nigeria of today is not a democratic State. *That elements of a democratic State are not found in todays Nigeria. *That there is a subterranean arrangement to gag the people. *That the culture of impunity is growing on daily basis. *That the Nigeria Police is doing the biddings of the PDP-led FG. *That silence waters the tree of tyranny. *That tyranny anywhere is a threat to democracy. *That the Federal Government led by President Jonathan has failed. *That good governance is nonexistent in Nigeria. *That citizens must wake up from their slumber. *That citizens must ask relevant questions. *That citizens of other countries cannot help us fight impunity. Collectively, we resolved: *That we shall remain resolute and steadfast in the fight to bring back Nigeria to a more dignified position among comity of nations. *That young people must get involved in government. *That corruption is what it is, nothing more, nothing less. *That our voice shall be potent enough to cause desired change. *That APC is the party with a robust action plan to take Nigeria out of the deep but avoidable quagmire of underdevelopment that the PDP government has put us.
