Yesterday, I was out to Caseys getting an ice cream cone and this guy started talking to me. He was riding an electric powered bicycle. He started in upstate New York and was trying to set a record for distance traveled. He said most guys or gals that go across country drive across and a support group or person brings them back. Be was going out to the west coast and back in order to get the miles be needed. His bike had an electric motor built into the rear hub. A hub motor. He said he stops every few hours, mostly at conscience stores to charge up. Be said convenience stores usually have an ice machine outside with a spare outlet. I wish I would have had my cell phone to take a pictures. I asked how they would know if he actually rode the miles. One way was his trip was tracked by GPS. The other was a log book that people signed along the way. I was happy to sign and verify his log.
