Yesterday afternoon I got to spend more precious time with our beloved Frau Nau. Since the weekend, she has been sleeping the majority of the time. But right before I left yesterday afternoon, she woke up, and we talked for about 10-15 minutes. I asked her if I could sit on her bed by her, and she said, I would appreciate that. We held hands, and I told her one of her favorite former students, Jacob Miller (Jakob Christmas) was coming to see her. She said, I heard he was coming. He had flown in from Boston to spend 3 precious days with her. I heard they had a great visit. The entire Miller family was there (Jerry Miller, Jenny Miller, Rachel Williams), and I know in my heart she LOVED her time with them...they are very special people to her. Thank you Jacob for coming all the way from New England...that says so much about what an impact she had on your life, as we all feel about Twyla. She also had a special visit from Ashley Burton Riley earlier in the day, who sang Amazing Grace. She truly, truly loves when her kids come and sing to her. Before I left yesterday, I hugged her, kissed her, and we exchanged I love yous as we have done every visit since the days when I would visit her during chemo treatments. She knows the big benefit is this weekend, and I know she would so love to be there to see everyone. I am so happy that she has been able to experience being surrounded by SO MUCH LOVE at the end of her life!! Most people who leave such a legacy dont get to feel the full impact of the impression they leave on the world in the way that Mrs. Nau has over this last month. I know she feels so blessed by this outpouring of love, support, music and messages from all of you. What a beautiful thing it has been for us all to come together and make her such a priority in our lives in her hour of need...it truly speaks to just what an amazing woman she has been for us all!!
