Yesterday in the gym I was being watched by a teenage girl maybe 13-14 who was there with her mother. Both were curvy and fuller girls but not obese. I could hear mom talk to her daughter about losing weight because she was chunky. They were on treadmill for 20 mins, the elliptical for 20 mins, then stair machine say another 20 mins. Throughout their cardio marathon I could see the girl watching me lifting weights and posing. When they walked past me to the ab crunch machine the girl asked her mom about doing weights and Mom looked me over. And all I heard was no, you do not wanna look like that...and the disgusted look on her face.. What bothered me was not that she was condescending on how I looked, it was more of that she thought theyd look like me by lifting weights...And cardio will make you lean...... And again woman thinking cardio is the answer to being lean. . . This young girl was interest in the iron... Lifting weights will not get you all manly muscular. Im a bodybuilder who competes... I eat to grow, I lift heavy to grow because I want to compete. So most normal exercise program with weights will not have one look like a bodybuilder... But Weights help build some muscle , muscle burns more calories at rest then fat, normally I dont do more then 20-30 mins cardio tops a few times a week. Dont be afraid of the iron. Food/nutrition is what you need to watch when wanting to lose weight more then the cardio! Too much cardio and not the right foods can actually cause you to gain weight!
