Yesterday night we had dinner with friends at EL ALMACEN NCR - delicious old new cuisine style, tapas with a twist! (check guiarussafa.org to get an idea of our new neighborhood). In order to settle down a bit and have a place to call ours again, at least for the coming year, we started searching for an apartment the day after we arrived. Not that easy as we thought. Most come with full furniture, are dark like a cave or not in a interesting area. After two weeks searching, we found ourselves a bright and charming apartment in Ruzafa, a vibrant neighborhood in Valencia, with the whole package of colored tiles, an antique doorbell and a 7 meter long balcony. Next week we will be cleaning & painting and then on February 9th our first batch of things from Holland will arrive. After signing the rental contract, and thus having an address in Spain, we started with all the required paperwork. Step one was to register as a citizen of Valencia at the local police station. Within 10 minutes we stood outside, with extra copies in case we needed some and with a huge smile on our face. First steps in the pocket!
