Yesterday our church celebrated orphan Sunday by acknowledging families who have adopted. As Zach and I did not adopt from another country, the adoption of DJ has undeniably changed the dynamic of our family. In Genesis 17, God changes Abrams name to Abraham. I feel the name change is significant as it is a reminder and renewal to Abraham of the promise God has given him for Gods people. His legacy had changed in those moments as God spoke life and purpose into him. When Zach said yes to loving DJ and being his father for his lifetime, we changed DJs name entirely. I didnt realize it then, but I do now, DJs legacy has changed all because my husband is strong enough to stand where God says to stand and do as God asks him to do. I love my husband, I love our son, and I know that God has plans above and beyond what we can see.
