Yesterday, the U.S. Department of State rolled out its 2013 International Religious Freedom report. This annual report documents the status of religious freedom around the world, including persecution of religious minorities, displacement of religious communities, and discrimination, violence and abuse perpetrated on the basis of the victims’ religion or belief. Speaking about #Iran at the report launch, Secretary of State John Kerry mentioned imprisoned Christian Pastor Saeed Abedini, and stated, “We will continue to stand up for religious minority communities under assault and in danger around the world, from Jehovah’s Witnesses to Baha’is to Ahmadi Muslims.” Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinowski also mentioned that, in the last year, the government of Iran “continued to persecute adheren[ts] of the #Bahai faith.” Read the report, view the remarks made at the report launch, and learn more about international religious freedom at the link below. humanrights.gov/2014/07/26/secretary-kerry-to-release-report-on-international-religious-freedom/
