Yoga: Shirshasana- FORGET THE SKY SEE THE EARTH There is misconception that Yoga means standing on your head, or twisting your body into all sorts of contorted postures. Of course as a system of physical well being, yogic practices involve the flexibility of the body. A prerequisite is to have childlike wonder and curiosity as this emotion opens the heart and mind. Though it evolved in Indic civilization it is not a Hindu religion or ritual, nor does it have any divine meaning, nor purport to lead to a belief in god. Yoga in its purest Sanskrit form means union. It does not ask you to waste time in useless rituals or devotion. Yoga does not entail any belief or value system, but like science it echoes the sentiment, that the whole of existence, is just the same energy that manifests in different forms. In the yogic union, you experience everything as one, once you master the art. Yoga is part of an experiential system, which aids our existential life and does not require religion or society to teach us morals. It is akin to spirituality, not a platform to preach or prescribe values or morals. It is a tested solution, that works without requiring any faith, unlike seeking solace, where psychologically belief in anything will work. –Spiritual Atheist- P. S. The Vatican has realized the huge potential Shirshasana has to promote celibacy amongst the monks – as the blood is drained from the genitals by gravity and rushes to the brain to stimulate divinity.
