You guys, Whole30er Michael T is keeping friends and family updated with daily Captains Logs. And they are hilarious. Captains #Whole30 Update - Earth Date 1/6/15 Its Day 6, and the world Im living in is seeming a bit clearer as the veil of fog is lifted from my eyes. The secrets to survival here are becoming more apparent with each day of observation and participation, and Im adapting. Ive seen others on these interwebs whove entered into this same experiment who are focusing their system entries on the food their eating, bite by bite. So rather than create redundant data, Ive chosen to focus the remainder of mine on survival strategies, learnings, and the benefits Im observing that will be useful and inspiring to people on my home planet. Day 4 was not without its challenges. My caregiver deliberately challenged me to ignore my Department Issued Communications Device (iPhone of course) as we took our canine for a walk. Typically this walk is about 30 minutes and covers 1.25 miles, but for some reason, being outside in the sun, I felt energized, the world seemed a bit brighter, my caregiver and I had great conversation, and I didnt want it to end. The feeling of togetherness carried into the evening, as we had fun working together and supporting each other through a number of activities. On Day 5, I found myself in the community for a day of meetings. Initially I was concerned, but my caregiver Ashley Greenwald spent the end of Day 4 preparing a few meals for the week ahead. This made it so easy to reach in the fridge and grab a Travel Approved Containment Device filled with nutritionist approved sustenance (Pictured). Id never thought to do this before, but when returning from this experiment I believe Ill adopt this technique to insure I have the right food at the right time. Ill admit that it was a bit odd to consume this within a coffee shop, but the food actually paired well with the unsweetened iced tea I had, courtesy of Starbucks who even honors birthday rewards on this planet! I ended my day with a great #BodyPump workout at South Reno Athletic Club where, thanks to my increase in energy, I felt stronger and increased my weights across the class. As Im halfway through Day 6, this world is certainly not appearing as strange as it had when I first arrived. Colors actually seem brighter, my focus has increased as my stomach is satisfied and my mind is not consumed with what to eat next, and my energy level is definitely up. I maintain a healthy does of skepticism surrounding many things, such as replacement versions of my favorite foods (Spaghetti Squash is NOT spaghetti), but overall Im finding myself acclimating nicely. Day 7 is ahead, marking one full week here on Planet Whole30. I expect big things ahead.
